With expertise in early childhood education and music, Gumnut Music adopts a play-based approach in helping students learn and feel music through their bodies, with special attention to our own instrument – the singing voice! Our approach is inspired from the Kodaly and Orff Philosophies of music.
We teach the heart, not just the academics of music.
Older students also benefit greatly from a fun and relaxed approach to learning. The more a child is laughing and engaged during their lessons, the more learning they will retain.

Gumnut Music Studio
Welcome to our purpose-built studio filled with inspiring resources and quality instruments. The space has been designed with imaginative, child-lead learning at its heart.
In addition, we have a large front yard with invitations to play for children. This is a space students enjoy before and after their lessons. Siblings also enjoy playing here while waiting. An undercover patio with a lounge space overlooks the yard.
Additionally, we provide an office space with complimentary wifi for parents who would like to work during their child’s lesson.

Louise Lindsay
Voice & Keys
Louise is the Founding Director of Gumnut Music and the creator of our multi-award-winning early years music curriculum. With over 15 years of experience in music education, she teaches Voice, beginner Keyboard, and our Early Years Music programs.
Louise’s extensive teaching journey spans both Australia and London, where she trained in a variety of curriculums and methods. This experience has instilled a deep passion for music education and a commitment to hands-on, informed, and intentional teaching. Her engaging lessons not only captivate but also inspire a lifelong love of music in her students.
Louise holds a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Songwriting and Voice, and a Diploma in Children’s Services.
Ally Dunk
Voice & Keys
Ally is an experienced music educator who teaches piano and voice, as well as leading Early Childhood Music Programs. As a music teacher, she is passionate about providing quality and enjoyable music education for all ages and skill levels. She wholeheartedly strives to develop curious, creative, and well-rounded musicians in her practice as a music educator. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the University of Queensland, and she will graduate with a Master of Teaching majoring in Music Education in 2024.
Sienna Couzens
Voice & Ukulele
Sienna is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, specialising in the French horn. Her musical journey began at the tender age of three with the piano and has since expanded to include singing, ukulele, recorder, trumpet, French horn, and trombone.
Sienna completed secondary school at the Victorian College of the Arts, where she studied voice and French horn, solidifying her expertise in musicianship, music analysis, and performance.
An avid performer, Sienna is actively involved in musical theatre communities in both Australia and Singapore. Her passion for teaching was inspired by her father, a music teacher and trumpet player, whose dedication to his students sparked her own desire to educate and inspire future musicians.
Louise is a wonderful music teacher. She puts so much thought and effort into her super fun and engaging classes. My boys really enjoy her lessons and so do I!
